Congratulations to the Burnaby Mountain class of 2015! Together, they have won over 120 individual scholarships, totalling over $600,000! Scholarships are awarded to students on a school based level, community based level, through the Burnaby School District scholarship committee, or external from Burnaby Mountain, such as post-secondary entrance scholarships.
Several scholarships and awards are still available for students entering post-secondary next year. Scholarships are posted on the Burnaby Mountain scholarship blog: http://blogs.sd41.bc.ca/mountain-scholarships/ or, you can follow Burnaby Mountain scholarships on Twitter: https://twitter.com/bmsscholarships. Scholarship opportunities are incredibly diverse and are awarded based on several criteria, not just on GPA. Work habits, volunteer and leadership experience, coursework (such as ACE-IT and Industry Training Programs) and financial need also play a significant role in scholarship criteria.
If you have any questions about the scholarship process at Burnaby Mountain, need help with an application, or would like more information about a posted scholarship, please contact Sherrie Martens, Scholarship Committee Chair, at sherrie.martens@sd41.bc.ca.
We are so proud of the class of 2015 – you are on to great places!
