Literacy is one of our main school goals at Burnaby Mountain Secondary. We are focused on Digital Literacy with a mission to: “Foster an educated, responsible, and reflective community of Digitally literate citizens”. We believe our learners need to learn and apply literacy skills to the relatively new digital landscape in our ever-changing world. It is imperative that our learning community are provided with awareness, education, and tools to apply digital literacy skills across all subjects and disciplines as these are skills that can and should be utilized across the curriculum and beyond the school setting. Intrinsically linked to our goal are our core competencies, addressing the whole student in a respectful, inclusive and empathetic manner. Our community fosters this philosophy within a framework of choice, relevancy, and engagement.
