Next week, April 26-29, 2022, we will be administering the Literacy 12 assessments to all grade 12 students. We will also be administering the Numeracy 10 Assessment to all remaining grade 10 students – those who did not write this assessment in November 2021 or in previous years. These assessments are prepared by the BC Ministry of Education and must be written by all students as a part of their graduation requirements. Please see the details below for all the important information.
- All grade 12 students will write the Literacy 12 Assessment on either Tuesday April 26 or Wednesday April 27.
- All remaining grade 10 students will write the Numeracy 10 Assessment on either Thursday April 28 or Friday April 29.
- Any grade 11 or 12 students have not yet written the Numeracy 10 Assessment previously, will be scheduled to write at the same time as the grade 10s (April 28 or 29)
- Students can find out the exact date, time, and location of when they are scheduled to write their assessment by checking the lists posted on the windows of the Library on Monday April 11.
- We encourage all grade 10, 11, & 12 students to check these lists as soon as possible so they know the details of their assessment schedule.
- There are two exam sittings each day:
- Morning Assessment: 9:00am-12:00pm
- Afternoon Assessment: 12:30pm-3:30pm
- Students are asked to arrive at least 15 minutes before their scheduled sitting (8:45am/12:15pm)
- All assessments will be written online.
- All students should bring photo ID, pens/pencils, and a calculator (numeracy only)
- Students are assessed on a four-point proficiency scale: Emerging, Developing, Proficient, and Extending
- There is no “pass” or “fail” – students must write the assessments in order to meet the BC graduation requirements.
- Assessment results are not blended with any subject mark as was the case with past provincial examinations. The results stand alone on the student’s transcript.
- The Literacy 12 Assessment is not tied to a specific English Studies course. Instead, it evaluates a student’s literacy skills developed over the course of their education.

Please note that all grade 10 students will be writing the Literacy 10 Assessment during the June session (June 13-17, 2022).
Thank you!
