Remembrance Day – November 11

remembrance-dayOn November 10th all students at Burnaby Mountain Secondary attended a Remembrance Day assembly.

Remembrance Day is celebrated on November 11th throughout Canada.  This day is an opportunity for us to honour all those who have lost their lives defending our freedom in War and in Peacekeeping Activities.  It is a time for us to reflect on the sacrifice they have made on our behalf and an opportunity for all of us to hope for a more peaceful future for our families and ourselves.

On Remembrance Day, Canadians wear a poppy to show their respect for our Canadian Veterans and all those who have made the ultimate sacrifice.  The Canadian Legion that sponsors the poppy campaign asks that you make a small donation when you receive your poppy.  This money is used to support Veterans programs and promote awareness of the importance of the act of Remembrance.
