Awards & Recognition 2022-2023

**Honour Roll will be calculated and awarded at the end of Semester 1 and Semester 2. Please see the criteria below**

Awards	Qualifications
Honour Roll	Grade 10-12 students who attain a 3.0 GPA (B Average) on their report cards achieve Honour Roll standing.
Honours with Distinction	Grade 10-12 students who attain a grade point average of 3.5 or higher on their report card will receive Honours with Distinction. A=4.0 B=3.0 C+=2.5 C=2.0 C-=1.0
Conditions	Gr.12: Students must be enrolled in at least 3 graded courses through Semester 1 and Semester 2. Honour Roll will be calculated based on the best 3 courses. Gr. 10-11: Students must be enrolled in at least 3 graded courses through Semester 1 and Semester 2. Honour Roll will be calculated based on the best 3 courses. Youth in Trades programs will be used to calculate GPA. Burnaby On-Line and At Home Learning courses will be included in the GPA Calculations for the 2020-2021 School Year only. Online and AHL courses must be completed, with a mark, by the end of Semester 1 and Semester 2 to be considered.
Work Ethic List of Distinction	Students who attain all Gs for their work habit marks are included on the Work Ethic List of Distinction after both Semester 1 and Semester 2. Students must be enrolled in a minimum of 7 courses over two Semesters to qualify for this list.
Service Awards	Presented to students who make a service contribution to the school or community. Minor Service Award: min 50+ hours Major Service Award: min 100+ hours
Athletic Awards	Presented to the outstanding male and female athlete. Award criteria includes participation, good sportsmanship and commitment.
Scholarships & Financial Aid	Information on scholarships, awards and bursaries are available on our scholarship blog/website.
Gold Cord	Presented to graduating students who achieve Honour Roll status in each Semester/Term in grades 10-12.
Mountain Lion Award	The BMSS Mountain Lion award is open to all students in grades 8 – 11 and is awarded at the end of each school year. There is one award available for each grade and will be given to students who are well-rounded with diverse experiences demonstrating our school motto of respect, excellence, and responsibility.
